Appearance: Miroku is tall and has dark hair, which he wears back in a tiny ponytail. He usually dresses nicely, seldom wears jeans or casual t-shirts. He wears suits normally, without ties and the top button or two of his shirts unbuttoned. He gives off a somewhat sophisiticated, and yet laid-back appearance.

On his right hand, he has a black, round spot that looks like a bruise. He covers it up with a black leather glove.
Personality: Miroku is generally laid-back and carefree, giving off the impression that he hasn't a care in the world. However, the better one gets to know him- and there are few he really gets close to- the more one sees that Miroku does have concerns about his life and can be serious in some situations.

Besides being laid-back, Miroku is insufferably perverted, and has no sense of decency or respect for privacy when dealing with the opposite sex. He is constantly hitting on/groping women, which usually leads to a slap in the face, and the occasional knee to his groin, if he was exceptionally forward. Because of this habit, it is little wonder that Miroku has no female friends.

He also has few male friends. His care-free appearance is really a way to keep others at a distance from himself, not letting anyone get close enough to see his serious side. And because of his problem with females, other men are not that eager to be too friendly with Miroku in case their female friends think they are as perverted as Miroku is.

Abilities/Strengths: His family on his father's side comes from a long line of monks with the power to exorcise demons, and this ability has been passed down to Miroku. On top of his day job, he also has the job of getting rid of demons from local homes and temples using paper sutras and chants.

On top of this, Miroku has some loose training in the martial arts, enough that he can engage in hand-to-hand combat and not embarrass himself. He fights best with his staff.

Weapons: Paper sutras which he uses to bind demons, and an ancient staff passed down the family that he uses to create barriers and purify demons.

Weaknesses: Women. He just can't keep his hands off them and that constantly leads to trouble for Miroku. Because of his perverted ways, he has little friends and is forced to depend on himself. Also, his tendancy to isolate himself from others further handicaps his social life.

Oh, and he also has a life-threatening illness passed down through his family as the result of a curse from a demon on his paternal grandfather. He's in recession right now, but he never knows when his illness may strike again. Well, actually, he does- along with the illness Naraku cursed his family with, he was nice enough to include a little stamp, a reminder if you will, that let's Miroku know when his illness will come back. It is in the form of a black bruise-like spot in the palm of his right hand.

History: Miroku comes from a middle-class family living in modern-day Tokyo amd ever since his father passed away when he was nine years old, he's been afflicted by the same disease that took both his father and his grandfather early in life. It's no ordinary disease either- his grandfather angered the demon Naraku who then placed a curse on him and all his sons after him, would all die before their fortieth birthday from a debilitating illness, unless they manage to kill him before that. So far, neither Miroku's father or grandfather succeeded, so it is Miroku's duty to either kill Naraku or have a son before he dies so that at least someone someday will kill the demon.

Meanwhile, Miroku performs exorcisms of smaller demons that plague Japan, as he searches for Naraku. In his world, humans and demons try to coexist together (which is actually more of a demons try to fit in with the humans without being noticed), but there are some who act out and terrorize the humans every once in a while and it is part of Miroku's inheritence to fight these demons. Recently he made some friends- quite likely his first friends in a long time- Kagome, InuYasha, and Sango. They all share a common desire to find and kill the demon Naraku. He first met InuYasha and Kagome- high school students- when he unwisely asked Kagome to bear his children. InuYasha and Kagome were also tracking Naraku at the time for reasons of their own, and Miroku, being older, wiser, and having more knowledge of the demon, was asked to join them (though InuYasha was wary of Miroku's lecherous habits). Sango later joined them after they heard that Naraku had killed an entire family of demon slayers, leaving Sango as the only survivor left.
